Title says it all. How would you prefer the new movie to be? Do you want it to occur after the events of the comic, the cliffhanger, a reboot (heehee) that's a new story that pretends the show never happened, a movie that's mostly inside a gamecube, etc, etc.
I have a sneaking suspicion that say the movie's an hour and a half that they will be playing a game for a good 45 min/1hr of it. That's not what I want. The gang fighting viruses is much more engaging to me then when they play a game.
How about you guys? what's the ideal way to have Rainmaker do this?

For me, the only way I'll consider it ReBoot is if it continues where it left off, and it's being done by the original team of creators (Gavin Blair & co). When they did "My Two Bobs", I don't think they had in mind to leave it as it is. I think they had something powerful in store for the conclusion. So whatever Rainmaker decides to do with it, if it's not what the creators had planned initially, I won't be satisfied.
The fans wanted ReBoot back not to have it revamped & redesigned, but because they simply wanted more of it.
So for my answer, I say to Rainmaker, "Bring back the original team and let them continue where they left off in 2001".

I personally think if Rainmaker were to continue where the series left off would be somewhat of a mistake. Most people that mildly enjoyed ReBoot during it's air have forgotten most details (younger kids), sure it's easy for us to say as die-hard fans that we need to see what megabyte meant by the hunt and all the other unanswered questions from the cliffhanger, but lets face it. The ReBoot we all grew up with, has alas had it's run. Very similar to reboots(hehe) of other popular sci fi series' it's time for a new generation. Perhaps starting fresh from the very start. Perhaps a remake of the tearing or a film that introduces a brand new audience to mainframe, the sprites, the user, the games, the viruses etc etc. Very much like the recent Star Trek film has brought a new love for the age old stories, it's what is needed now for ReBoot. Rather than having unanswered prayers for die hard fans, let us see RainMaker start from square one and bring a whole new wave of fans for ReBoot. Or in simpler words, lets re-invent the wheel... well the old wheel...

yeah, I wouldn't mind a reboot of ReBoot.. haa. As long as it's done well. As long as the spirit and characters are preserved, why not? I guess that sounds pretty blasphemous... and don't get me wrong, I WANT a Season 5. I want the Hunt. But that's a lot of history to introduce in the first 5 minutes of the movie without it feeling forced. (Not that I'm saying it couldn't be done, but still.) Besides which, (and this is important) if the creators aren't involved, we still wouldn't get the end to the Hunt as it was meant to be. We might get another Paradigms Lost and I don't think anyone was satisfied with that... :\

I agree. I would be afraid of the movie being a flop if it were forced to stick to the original timeline, starting from the Hunt. Fan-service is a nice thing to have as a bonus, but it certainly shouldn't be the point of it.
I would like to see the series "Rebooted"; to see all the characters we know and love, but truly brought into the 21st century. Let the writers work without imposed restrictions that would stifle creativity. With today's computer culture, a show like Reboot would be a hit, I'm sure.
In fact, I would argue that the real reason season 4 was not as good as season three, was simply because so many of the original, workable ideas had been exhausted. It would probably do well to have the series restarted, just like Star Trek.
And of course, if the Rebooted version is successful, the original series will be released, since it will become marketable to new fans, who will themselves begin wonder about the cliffhanger, and then the Hunt, can perhaps be incorporated into the NEW TV series, that I'm sure Rainmaker wants to produce after the movies are successful. "fingers crossed"

I think they should continue right from where they left off. Yes, others might be lost but there are many ways on the net to catch up. Youtube & Torrents. I have all the episodes on my external and watch them on my PS3 here and there. I know exactly where it left off and i know exactly how to make sense of everything in the comic.
I think they should make the comic a movie. A 4 episode set, like they did with the previous two movies and then continue on with the 2nd and 3rd. The comic ended good. They could make an excellent movie with that.
If people want to catch up, the options are there. It doesn't take much knowledge to learn how to operate torrent programs and it's incredibly easy to use Youtube.
I wanted Reboot back for Reboot, not a new series, not new characters, not inside a game cube, not in a different computer, nothing. I wanted Reboot! The series we all know
Another cool idea would be some sort of prequel like in Bob's past. More information from there would be kinda cool too

If they continue from "My Two Bobs" it would probably be completely inaccessible to new fans and would most likely flop like a whale. On the other hand, I'm a selfish bastard and have waited forever for a "canon" continuation of the series (ew @ webcomic); I want a direct continuation.
It'll also be great when they put everything in context of the 21st century, Mac vs PC war would be hilarious.

I doubt they'd go full-on with an OS war, unfortunately; they may just slip in some familiar symbols in there somewhere (like the Linux penguin)

Perhaps even as an alternative, have the feature length film be the "reboot" to the story, with the possible gained popularity and lovely releases as everyone has mentioned before, rainmaker would continue the rebooted story via films along side with the launch of a series in continuation of the classic story perhaps in a mini-series format. meh best of both sides
