I want to propose a game I've been playing and hosting for a couple of years on a certain forum. I'll give the rules as they are, and if people are interested I'll adjust them to better suit the ReBoot universe. The game is a very simplified variant of the classical Mafia, and is called ISP. Don't ask. Where to start... how about from the beginning? The premise of the game: some characters are stuck together in a closed environment. One of them is a Villain in disguise, and the objective of the game is to find him before the game ends. Before the game starts, the GM (Game Master) sends each of the players a private message which contains their status (Villain or innocent character) and another component of the game: a code word. The code word is a noun of moderate size: 'pencil', 'apple', 'flag', etc. More about the code words later. The game is composed of rounds, called 'Days'. During the Days (maybe we should call them 'Seconds' here, though) the players interact in character, and basically do whatever they want, on one condition: every day each player must make three obligatory posts, one of which should contain their code word. You'll see why in a moment. At the end of each Day all players send a PM to the GM with their vote: the player they want to 'uncover', and what they think is that player's code word. Automatically, whoever guesses someone else's word gets some sort of in-game bonus from the GM. Now the GM counts the votes. The player the majority voted for will be "exposed" in the intro of the next "Day". If this was a regular, innocent player, nothing happens; the player stays in the game - but now everyone knows they're innocent. However, if the majority had voted for the Villain... he's exposed in the next Day's intro (or "lyrics"), and the game ends. But does it end in victory? Ah, it depends! See, if one of the voters guessed the Villain's word, the players win, and the Villain is beaten. But if the word had not been guessed, the Villain gets exposed, and then gets away. A tie, practically. That's pretty much it, have I forgotten something?.. oh, yes. The number of Days is limited, of course. It's limited to half of the number of players. So if 8 players sign up to play, they have only 4 Days to find the Villain. If they don't... Game Over. There's also an optional rule for a traitor, who works in league with the Villain. The traitor is, by definition, not in disguise (or at least not Viral or something like that), so they come across as innocent, which gives them the power to influence the players. What do you think?

I LOVE Games ! Good idea but my time is becoming more and more limited. I can't guarantee always being there every day or night. Most of the time, no problem though. By visual I ment creating a game with the actual ReBoot characters. I know NOTHING about these things, but i've got several old (dos) Star Trek games, blotchy, but very nice. Shouldn't be TOO hard, no? I really dont know and i always missed the ReBoot games : they never appeared éxcept on PS1. Even the least known cartoon/animation characters nowadays, provided they'be with a major Network, have loads of (silly, easy) games with graphics and sound (juzz check out Cartoon Network and-the-like). But like i said, i know nothing about animation software. And Copywrights too, i guess. Must be a way around them... Und yes, i have indeed been zzinking of rezigning my post with Lord megaByte und seeging Heil...ehh...employment elsevere...jaaa ?

Oh dear... I think you are wasting your talents on Megabyte, Herr Doktor, you'd be much more comfortable with me! A visual game... what do you mean by that? As to ISP, I'd more than happy to run it, but it needs more people: only you signed up here, and on the Java Hut another four people signed up, and believe me, with less than... say, 8 people it's not worth playing. By the way, where should we play? Here or there?

I'd be interested but my internet time is limited at best.

It's all right, that's covered in the rules. You just go out once a day, write your obligatory posts (you can write one, if you're in a hurry or whatnot), send a vote to the GM and that's it. So far, the people signed in (on both forums) are: Vectoria, icecheetah, ThePhantomSquee, FireFox, Herr Doktor, Kerberos, WanderedRiha. One more left for a game. And I'll raise the question once again: where do we play?

I am not a member on any other forum, so this one would be my preference.

4 days eh? Well count me in! Do it here! And post an "archive" of it on Java Hut! Y'know, to help out with Justice's forum stimulation!
I didn't bother to check if posts here are time marked, but it's almost 10am here for me, Pacific Time.

Okay, eight people! However, four of them have signed up at TJH: Vectoria, icecheetah, FireFox, ThePhantomSquee. Until they move here (if they want to), there are two other things we need to decide upon. 1)Roles! Who wants to play whom? This is tied to: 2)The plot. What brings the characters together, how do they find out about the traitor, and what makes them stay put and try to solve this by themselves? Now, usually, this is all decided by the GM and exposed only in the Lyrics for the first Day of the game, but... well, I'm not used to writing ReBoot fiction (and the games I use to run aren't even in English), so I guess I will need some help in this department, at least for the first game. Notice the hope in the last sentence. Maybe we could do it this way: in many games there are actually two GMs: one of them (the "Physic") upholds the rules, counts the votes, makes sure everybody writes their word at least once in their posts, etc. Also, crucially, the Physic chooses the codewords and picks the Traitor. The second GM (the "Lyric") has nothing to do with all of that, and doesn't even know who the traitor is, which means that the Lyric can (and usually does) play like a normal player. However, the Lyric writes the intros to all of the Days, and when the Physic counts the votes at the end of a Day, he passes the name of the eliminated player to the Lyric, who uses it to write the next one. Yeah, I know it sounds a bit complicated, but it's not, not really. Anybody wants to become a Lyric for this game?
